FAQ – Rain protection film for exterior mirrors
What is the purpose of the rain protection film on the wing mirror?
The film provides a smooth, water-repellent surface , allowing rain to run off more quickly and fewer drops to adhere. This keeps the view in the mirror clearer – especially in windy conditions, drizzle, and spray.
Is the film transparent and does it affect the mirror effect?
Yes, the film is highly transparent and designed to fit the mirror surface. The mirror effect is retained ; there is no distortion or tinting.
Will this set fit my vehicle?
Yes, our sets are pre-cut to fit specific vehicles (e.g., Kia Ceed 2018–2025). Please check the model, series, and year of manufacture to ensure a perfect fit without any overlap.
How is the installation carried out – dry or wet?
Assembly is simple and takes only a few minutes:
- Thoroughly clean and degrease the mirror surface.
- Align the film precisely and smooth it down without bubbles .
- Small residual bubbles usually disappear within 24–48 hours .
Is the film compatible with heated exterior mirrors?
Yes. The film is applied to the mirror surface and does not affect the heating. Wait 24 hours after installation before using the heating.
Does the film interfere with turn signals, cameras, or sensors in the mirror housing?
No. The film only covers the mirror surface . Turn signals, surround-view cameras, or sensors in the mirror cap are not covered and remain unaffected.
How long does the rain protection film last on the mirror?
Durability depends on usage, washing frequency, and weather conditions. With normal care , several years are possible. You can replace the film at any time if it becomes worn.
How do I care for the foil-covered mirror surface?
Clean with a microfiber cloth and mild glass cleaner. Do not use abrasive cleaners or blades. Soft brushes are acceptable in car washes.
Can I remove or reposition the foil without leaving any residue?
Yes. The film can be carefully peeled off . For a clean result, warm the surface slightly beforehand (hairdryer on low setting) and remove any adhesive residue with glass cleaner.
Is the rain protection film legally permissible?
Yes. The film is colorless/transparent and does not alter the mirror's function. It is applied to the mirror surface and does not affect the field of vision or signaling effect.
Are there any tips for handling rain, frost, and car washes immediately after installation?
After application, allow 24–48 hours for curing: no high-pressure washing, no heating/hot air, keep as dry as possible . After this time, the film is fully load-bearing.
Is fogging also reduced?
The smooth surface helps moisture run off more quickly . However, heated mirrors remain the most effective solution against heavy fogging.
